Kilvey Carriage House is a family run business with many years carriage driving experience.
We are dedicated to upholding traditional values and pride ourselves on our high
standards.
Our hearse is a Marsden copy made using traditional methods with modern
disc brakes fitted all round for ease of use. It is finished to a high standard in
every detail with dark red and gold upholstered ceiling and varnished wood interior.
It is roomy enough to accommodate most caskets.
We use best English leather full collar funeral harness which has been especially made for us. Our horses are Friesians (or Belgian Blacks) and have been trainined by ourselves specifically for this work. They combine elegance with a quiet nature. Our experienced coachmen and grooms are correctly liveried ensuring the highest quality throughout.
We are able to offer either hearse with a pair or team of horses, covered by public liability insurance of
£5,000 000
Our original 19th Century hearse is smaller than the Marsden hearse but has been carefully restored and finished in every detail. It has the advantage of being moderately lightweight for more hilly terrain.
